America has received a lot of excellent pop culture imports from Great Britain over the years (Kate Bush, The Office, Spice World — the movie AND album) and now, continuing that rich and noble tradition, the United Kingdom is officially giving us Sex Box, a reality TV show where couples discuss relationship troubles with a group of experts then go in a box and fuck. It’s like the Beatles appearing on Ed Sullivan all over again!
Picked up to series by WE tv, the U.S. version of Sex Box will air 9 episodes next year.
“Sex Box is one of the most unique and compelling show concepts we’ve ever seen, and we can’t wait to bring it to WE tv. Our featured couples will get a once-in-a-lifetime experience, while our viewers will get the kind of bold, break-through-the-clutter programming they increasingly associate with WE tv,”” said the network’s president Marc Juris in a statement.
The way Sex Box is set up, audiences will never see actual intercourse and the sex box itself is both sound-proof and without cameras (for now). The couples who appear on the show will talk about their sexual and relationship issues, adjourn to the sex box, DO IT and return to discuss the experience. In other word’s it’s basically just the “bold, break-through-the-clutter” stuff that we increasingly associate with WE tv.
