Blake Lively on Those Pants Movies: 'There's a Strong Chance There Might Be a Third'

Latest

While promoting The Shallows, her (surprisingly) thrilling shark attack movie, Blake Lively was asked by People’s Jess Cagle about the potential for a second sequel to 2005’s hit The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. “There’s a strong chance there might be a third,” Lively said, adding to rumors that have been around since the release of The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2 in 2008.

She continued:

“The four of us are still best friends. To be able to create something together again has always been a dream of ours. But it would have to be something that really made sense. If you wait this long to do a third movie, it needs to honor the story and the legacy.”

This is great news for me, a fan of the movies as well as its lead actors—all of whom are still “famous” to varying degrees, but not famous “enough” to prevent them from doing a third film in a young adult franchise whose original fans are all a decade older and absolutely desperate to know if Carmen is still acting, Lena married Jesse Williams, Bridget became an archeologist, or Tibby got a movie into Sundance yet.

There are five books in the series—more than enough to provide material for a final film—but in case they’re looking for other ideas, they can reach me at [email protected]. I have plenty.
