January 15, 2024: We had a blast live chatting during the GOP debate with Kylie Cheung on Wednesday night. So tonight, Jezebel staff writer Audra Heinrichs will be live chatting the Emmys red carpet and awards ceremony. Join Jezebel’s Discord whenever you want, but Audra will be signing on at 7 p.m. ET (the red carpet starts at 6 p.m. ET and the ceremony starts at 8).

Jezebel has joined Discord, and we want you—our beloved, brilliant readers—to join us there. You can find our server here, and to kick off our journey on this new (to us) social platform, Jezebel staff writer and noted internet addict Kylie Cheung will be live chatting during tonight’s GOP debate. The debate starts at 9 p.m. ET and Kylie will hop on to set the scene at 8:30 p.m. ET. (Click on this link for the invite. If you aren’t yet a Discord user, it will lead you to download the app and create an account.)

What’s Discord? It’s basically a host for lots and lots of chatrooms, and it looks and functions like Slack. At a press event in March, Discord’s co-founder and CEO Jason Citron said it’s “become a place where [people] have fun and get things done together.” And who doesn’t love to have fun—and get things done??

We want our Discord to be a place where we can chat, become internet friends, meet each other, share memes, and talk about whatever celebrity scandal or fresh political hell is happening that day, week, or hour. We’re starting with the GOP debate tonight but we’ll also be opening our Discord doors for the Emmys on Sunday—and probably every debate, award show, election, House of Dragon episode, etc. for the rest of time. Over the next couple of weeks, we’ll be adding channels, topics, and apps, and building out our community rules and guidelines, as well as some other fun (and/or necessary) stuff, but for now, we’ll be chatting in #general.

We’d love to hear what you want to chat more about, so please bring your beautiful ideas over. (Also, don’t worry, this isn’t replacing our comment section.)

Whether you’ve been a Jez reader since 2007 or this is the first time you’ve ever clicked on us, you’re invited (we’re excited!) to our Discord server. See you there at 8:30 p.m. tonight!
