“I don’t want to brag, but I sort of called it before he was elected and when I was on O’Reilly and I said he was a Communist and I got a lot of hate mail, but I got some that said I was a prescient which means “a prophet.” Watch a clip of the insanity here. • Time Magazine reports that more and more women are turning to pumps as a way to provide babies with breastmilk without actually having to breastfeed. “I’m a huge fan of breast milk, just not of nursing,” one mom explained. Part of the reason women are choosing to bottle feed has to do with time – many mothers can’t be around their babies 24/7 – but it also has to do with the public’s reaction toward a breast feeding mom. • Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas has refused to cover an infant with a heart defect because they say it’s a preexisting condition. The baby, born March 15, will need surgery soon. In September, the health care overhaul will go into effect, but that is too late to help the Tracys. “I don’t know how it can be preexisting on a baby that was just born,” remarked the boy’s father. • The Philadelphia woman accused of trying to trade sex for world series tickets has been found not guilty of prostitution, but guilty of attempted prostitution. In a story that seems straight out of It’s Always Sunny, Susan Finkelstein placed an ad on Craigslist describing herself as a “buxom blond… in desperate need.” “I wanted to get tickets I could afford,” she told The Early Show. • A poll out of Britain of 1,000 female college students found that 2% had worked in strip clubs, but 30% would consider baring all for a little extra cash. 25% of respondents also said they would consider working as an escort, but only 4% said they definitely would. • When fishing for egg donors in college newspapers, potential parents tend to offer more cash when the school has a reputation for higher than average SAT scores. A study of ads for egg donors found that 100 extra SAT points are worth up to $2,350 more. Also, there is someone out there willing to pay $50,000, despite the fact that paying over $10,000 is illegal. • There is an “east-west” racial breakdown in the US, according to a new study. Hispanic mothers in the eastern states are more likely to breastfeed than white women, but white women are most likely to feed their babies from the source in western states. Researchers are not clear as to why this divide exists, although they suspect it has something to do with differing laws regarding breastfeeding in public. • The Texas Supreme Court is in the process of deciding whether to allow the state to continue to charge a $5 tax to patrons of strip clubs. Lower courts have sided with the strip clubs, arguing that the fee is an unconstitutional regulation of free expression. Justices will decide on the fate of the program, which was designed to fund programs for victims of sexual assault, in the next several months. • Historians are up in arms over a Holocaust memorial that depicts two lesbians kissing. The tribute was created to honor the gay and lesbian victims of Nazi brutality, however, some argue that since the Germans never specifically targeted lesbians, they shouldn’t be included in the video-memorial. • Florida officials have charged Jarred Mitchell Harrell with murder of 7-year-old Somer Thompson, who went missing from school back in October. Her body was later found dumped in a landfill. • Women are more likely to report bad health then men, however, they are less likely to die from their ailments in the following five years. This leads some papers to conclude women are “greater hypochondriacs” – although we’re not sure surviving means you weren’t at all ill. • MSNBC.com has published the final entry in their group of essays by Iraq war veterans.
