There’s a new, unsettling development in the putrid saga of the Australian couple who abandoned one of their newborn twins with his Thai surrogate because the baby was born with Down Syndrome (they took his “normal” sister home with them).
The male half of the couple, David John Farnell, has been revealed—by an anonymous law enforcement source—to be a convicted pedophile, who served more than four years in prison in the United States for “indecent dealings with a child under the age of 13.”

More detail is now emerging about the parents, who were introduced via an online dating agency. David Farnell travelled to China in June 2004 to meet Wendy Li. They married four months later.
Today it has emerged that Gammy’s biological father, David John Farnell, is a convicted paedophile. Farnell, an electrician, was sentenced to three years’ jail in 1997 for sexually molesting two girls under the age of 13. He was later charged with six counts of indecent dealings with a child under the age of 13. The offences were said to have occurred over a 10 month period in the mid 1990s. Farnell was found guilty a second time and received an 18 month jail term.
According to the Guardian, “Australia’s Nine Network reported that the father’s wife had confirmed that her husband had a conviction.”
Literally everything about this story is the worst.
