Diplomatic Immunity Won't Cover DSK's Ass This Time

Latest

Last month Dominique Strauss-Kahn claimed he shouldn’t have to face Nafissatou Diallo’s civil suit because as head of the International Monetary Fund he had diplomatic immunity. Now her lawyers have filed papers pointing out that he resigned his position while under arrest, and both the IMF and the State Department say he wasn’t covered for sexual harassment at the time. They write:

“The IMF is not seeking to assert any immunities on behalf of Dominique Strauss-Kahn. But our understanding is that immunity in this particular case and with IMF officials is that it would only involve their official capacity and carrying out their duties in their official role. And that doesn’t apply in this case.”

Looks like it’s time to try another sleazy tactic for getting out of the suit.
