Donald Trump's Stalkery Attempts to Date Princess Diana Gave Her the Creeps

Donald Trump has many regrets, but among them is the fact that he never dated Princess Diana, whom he tried to unsuccessfully woo by wearing her down with flowers. Trump says that he and Diana “liked each other a lot,” but according to BBC presenter Selina Scott, he really just gave the princess “the creeps.”

The Huffington Post reports that Scott recently spoke out against Trump in The Sunday Times and that her experience of Trump’s relationship with Diana Spencer was quite different than his. While Trump has written that he wanted to date Diana due to her ability to “light up any room she was in” and her status as a “dream lady,” it turns out that Diana may have seen the mogul and presidential hopeful as a stalker more than anything else.

Here is Scott’s recollection of Trump’s efforts to “woo” Diana shortly after she broke up with Prince Charles and may have been on the rebound (which is when I assume Trump approaches women in general):

“He bombarded Diana at Kensington Palace with massive bouquets of flowers, each worth hundreds of pounds,” Ms Scott writes in today’s Sunday Times (£).

“Trump clearly saw Diana as the ultimate trophy wife.

“As the roses and orchids piled up at her apartment she became increasingly concerned about what she should do. It had begun to feel as if Trump was stalking her.”

According to Scott, the princess revealed her distaste of Trump to her over dinner but was reluctant to throw away the hundreds of flowers she received despite the fact that Trump “gave her the creeps.”

While the account sounds believable—I imagine any kind of special delivery from Trump would make one feel violated, claustrophobic and a tiny bit itchy—it’s important to note that Scott is, like Megyn Kelly, someone who the “notorious cherisher of women” hates due to a profile that she wrote of him many years ago. The Huffington Post reports that the article made Scott see Trump as an enemy and The BBC reports that Trump responded to the “realistic profile” of himself by calling her “obnoxious, repetitive, and not very smart” and sending Scott letters that questioned her “morality and career” as well as insulting her physical appearance. And then, just because, he replaced the letters with press clippings of himself with little personal notes attached. “Dear Selina, you’re a loser” one read.

“I thought he was a big girl’s blouse,” Scott said. Perhaps, Diana did too, when she chose to laugh at Trump’s flowers instead of throwing them away.
