How Hayden Panettiere Avoided Ending Up Like Lohan and Bynes

Nashville star Hayden Panettiere is on the May cover of Glamour — posing in absolutely stunning, vivid and summery photos by Peggy Sirota — and inside, she explains that although she was a child actress, her friends and family kept her from going off the rails. “I came up in the Messy Generation,” she says. “The generation of the disaster child.”

“It’s not that I didn’t go to clubs, have my picture taken,” she added. “I was 16 years old. I was experimenting just like any kid. But I had friends and family around me to yank me back when I was heading in the wrong direction.”

Okay, sure, but she started working at 11 months old, did two TV shows before the age of ten, and has worked consistently, year after year, since then. And don’t forget: In 2008 her father was arrested for hitting her mother. How does she keep it together? “My parents are really good people-they just are not meant to be together,” she says.

And:

“The thing that really saved me was that I still had that healthy fear of my parents — I still had a midnight curfew at 18!”
