Ikea Is Pretty Sure You Need a Puppy to Go With That Billy Bookcase
LatestAs part of a clever campaign, animal rescue organizations are partnering with Ikea and other furniture stores to promote adoption. Because what that Ektorp really needs is a floppy-eared puppy slumbering smack in the middle.
If they can convince 20-somethings to buy those lantern candleholders and silk flowers, I’m 100% positive those Swedes can get some of these dogs adopted.
Business Insider reports (via The Dodo) that the program got started in Singapore, in partnership with a group called Home for Hope. They photographed dogs from several shelters, created cardboard standups, and scattered them all over Ikea’s showrooms. Interested shoppers could scan a QR code for more info about adoption and the pets available. This video shows how it works:
They should expand this to every Ikea in America. Also, bookstores should launch the kitty equivalent. Shelter pets for everyone!
