Secret In Their Eyes is a new revenge thriller that, like many movies of today, has already been made before. Though it’s not officially a remake/reimagining of the 1996 Sally Field/Kiefer Sutherland film Eye For An Eye, it is unofficially a remake/reimagining of the 1996 Sally Field/Kiefer Sutherland film Eye For An Eye.

In the film, Julia Roberts and Chiwetel Ejiofor play FBI investigators who are called to a crime scene only to discover the murder victim is Roberts’s daughter. Thirteen years after the accused murderer is set free, Ejiofor finds him. The DA (Nicole Kidman) is hesitant to reopen the case, so Roberts takes matters into her own hands.
Again, this is the plot of Eye For An Eye, only the mom is an FBI agent and not whatever Sally Field was. The film also reminds me of Eye For An Eye in that I will be watching it on TV every every nine months or so when it airs at 3:30PM on a weekend afternoon.
Anna Kendrick is on deck to star in another exploitative and ethically questionable revenge thriller about moms in 2035.
