Lovelorn Sam Smith Serenaded Jimmy Fallon Last Night
This dude deserves an award for Most Likely to Flash Puppy Dog Eyes During a live set. How did Sam Smith ever get dumped, with that look in his arsenal?
You can hear it in his voice: Sam Smith is feeling feelings. But then “I’m Not The Only One,” which he performed on Fallon last night, is essentially a cheating/divorce song, crafted so you can hear the tears in his melisma and in the quivery harmonies of his back-up singers. The chorus: “You say I’m crazy/cause you don’t think I know what you’ve done/but when you call me baby/I know I’m not the only one.” Ugh, wrenching. Fallon didn’t cry, but he gushed and looked dumbstruck. “Oh man! Awesome, man!” Fallon def has Smith’s album in heavy ro on the ole Prius iPod.
