Male Celebrities Don't Have Stylists, They Have 'Groomers'
LatestJon Hamm’s rakish good looks aren’t natural, they’re carefully styled by professionals who are paid — handsomely! — to make male celebrities look like a million bucks.
But don’t get it twisted, these groomers are working with the man, not the character. “I work with Jon when he’s Jon Hamm,” said Diana Schmidtke, Jon Hamm’s groomer. “I don’t work with Don Draper. So for me it’s always about making him not look too Don Draper. Almost like he just ran his fingers through his hair. Very natural.”
Schmidtke’s roster of celebrity clients is impressive — Clint Eastwood, George Clooney, Jimmy Fallon, Viggo Mortensen, Chris Hemsworth, and Seth MacFarlane at the Oscars — and she puts them through the ringer to produce the chiseled jawlines and floppy hair we all adore. We’re talking eyebrow grooming, pre-shave oil, professional shaves, mattifying lotion, concealer, anti-shine gel, and more hair care products than you’d see in Vidal’s Sassoon. Get it, boys.
