In a rather charming interview on Monday’s episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Nicki Minaj revealed that she’s heard back from a few of the rappers she roasts in “Barbie Dreams” from her just-released fourth album, Queen. For those who haven’t heard, the song is a raunchy litany of reasons that make various rappers (mostly) unfuckable (“Drake worth a hundred milli, he always buyin’ me shit / But I don’t know if the pussy wet or if he cryin’ and shit”) over the beat of Notorious B.I.G.’s “Just Playing (Dreams).”
Without naming names, Minaj told Colbert that two people on her list approached her about the song. Young Thug, 50 Cent, DJ Khaled, Eminem, Future, and Lil Wayne are just some of the rappers mentioned on the track.
“Only one person so far got a little irritated, but then I explained to him how much I love him, and he understands now,” she said. “And then one person, he was just laughing. He was texting me…it was kinda like a mix between cursing me out and laughing at it, but I just kept putting the crying-face emoji so that I could make things not as bad.”
