PETA Changes Pace With Ad Starring Near-Naked Male Rapper
Latest
PETA ads usually feature naked women, so heavily tattooed rapper Waka Flocka Flame is an unusual choice. His campaign slogan? “Ink, Not Mink.” Mr. Flame says: “I love animals. As a kid, I had dogs, fish, iguanas, lizards. …I don’t want nobody to skin my puppy.” And! “Understand where that fox fur came from before you spend $1,000. Someone got their head beat in and electrocuted. Understand what you buy, instead of just going off fashion and what it looks like-that’s what I’d tell my community.”
The hip-hop star has had an interesting year: In January 2010 he was shot in the arm while fighting at a carwash in Georgia over his jewelry. His debut album, Flockavelli, was released in October and debuted at #6 on the Billboard albums chart; his video for “Bustin At Em” is described as being “like an NRA wet dream.” In January 2011, he turned himself in following a raid and was booked on drug and weapons charges; in February, his tour bus was shot up while he was in North Carolina. But! Waka loves animals so much he has a $100,000 gold and diamond necklace made to look like Fozzie Bear.
