Planned Parenthood Lauches Strong and Hilarious Attack Against Virginia's Crazy Ken Cuccinelli
LatestVirginia GOP gubernatorial candidate and current attorney general Ken Cuccinelli isn’t shy about his fervent belief that women should have all their decisions made for them by, well, Ken Cuccinelli; he recently said people who oppose the federal mandate for contraception coverage should be willing to go to jail to show their opposition. (Which we support, obviously. Byeeee! See you later!) Therefore, he has no one to blame but his own zealous self for making an enemy out of Planned Parenthood’s political arm. And you definitely don’t want to be on their bad side.
The Planned Parenthood Action Fund and Planned Parenthood Virginia PAC launched an energetic campaign today against Cuccinelli, who recently came out with a book called The Last Line of Defense: The New Fight for American Liberty that refers to the birth control benefit as the “sterilization mandate” (whaaat) and outlines his attempts to obstruct Virgina women and their families from affordable health care.
There’s Keep Ken Out, a detailed website that explains Cuccinelli’s positions on abortion, contraception, and Obamacare, and — our favorite — a trending Twitter hashtag called #CuccinelliBookTitles. Check it out for hits like “Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close to My Uterus” and “Sisterhood of the Traveling Douchbags”
The website is authorized by the campaign of Terry McAuliffe, Cuccinelli’s Democratic opponent, and so of course Cuccinelli’s team told Politico that McAuliffe is “bringing in his out-of-state network of liberal friends to try and influence voters in Virginia… Instead of offering plans to grow Virginia’s economy – instead of Mississippi’s – fix our transportation system, or improve our schools, Terry McAuliffe’s team is trying to do everything it can to not talk about the issues that matter to the people of Virginia.”
Uh, unless the people of Virginia care about affordable, accessible health care! And book/vagina puns.
