Australians were at a loss for how to battle their cane toad infestation, when a scientist came up with a sexy new plan. She entices female toads into traps using UV lights — which are softer and more pleasing to toads than brighter bulbs — and recordings of male toad calls. But not just any male toad calls: “We know that females like low voices because that indicates a larger male.” So basically, scientists are now using mood lighting and the toad equivalent of Barry White to lure lady toads to their deaths.
