Skeevy Senators Called Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand 'Porky,' Felt Her Up

Senator Kirsten Gillibrand was sexually harassed by another unnamed senator who, according to her new memoir, “likes [his] girls chubby.” Oh really?

According to the New York Post, Gillibrand spoke with People magazine to promote her new book Off The Sidelines — which, by the way, is a much better title that Hard Choices; someone inform Hillary Clinton. In the chat, Gillibrand discussed the jerks who shared their unsolicited opinions on her fluctuating weight including a weirdo she hasn’t named on the senate floor who’s into feeling up women who aren’t his wife or girlfriend (or interested).

“Good thing you’re working out, because you wouldn’t want to get porky!” one of her older male colleagues said. Her response: “Thanks, a—hole,” she said in an excerpt from her book.

An unidentified southern congressman once held the former upstate House member’s arm while walking her down the chamber’s center aisle. “You know, Kirsten, you’re even pretty when you’re fat,” he told her.

“I believed his intentions were sweet, even if he was being an idiot,” Gillibrand recounted.

Dude.

Gillibrand wrestled with her size after giving birth, like a normal human being, rising from a size 4 to a size 16 and received even more unsolicited, stupid comments from her colleagues.

She recalled a labor leader once told her: “When I first met you in 2006 you were beautiful, a breath of fresh air. To win [the special], you need to be beautiful again.”

“I knew I was too heavy for my own health,” Gillibrand recalled.

After she dropped 50 pounds and got elected to the Senate, one of her favorite older senators walked up behind her, squeezed her waist, and intoned: “Don’t lose too much weight now. I like my girls chubby.”

Terrible comments aside, you know what’s really amazing about Gillibrand’s experience? Her offenders control real things like military budgets and whether laws like Gillibrand’s own proposed (and stalled) legislation to reform rape in the military happens. Meanwhile these dirty old men can barely keep their hands and opinions off their co-worker’s physical person but we’re supposed to hope they reform issues like the gender wage gap? Might. Don’t.
