Rodrigo partnered with the Center for Reproductive Rights to talk all things abortion care, mifepristone, and midwifery, because God, it's brutal out here.

Nothing like a good ol’ fashion abortion care refresher to break you out of your mid-afternoon lull, and even better if it’s with your dear personal friend Olivia Rodrigo! Rodrigo recently sat down with three litigators at the Center for Reproductive Rights to talk all things abortion care, mifepristone, and midwifery. So let’s all watch and stop the spread of abortion misinformation together. OK? OK.
Zurawski v. Texas
Here Olivia talks with attorney Autumn Katz about the nonprofit’s work fighting abortion bans, including the 2024 Texas Supreme Court case Zurawski v. Texas, in which over 20 women represented by the Center challenged the state’s strict abortion bans. The lead plaintiff, Amanda Zurawski, testified that she nearly died from sepsis after being denied abortion care while in the ICU for three days.
“Since Roe fell, the Center has challenged abortion bans in 10 states,” Katz said, “and the stories that we hear from our clients are really gut-wrenching.”

“Not very pro-life to harm these women’s health for the long term and see them in the ICU. It’s just so terrifying,” Rodrigo said, adding, “It’s pro-control.” Point blank period.
Mifepristone misinformation
Here at Jez, we love access to the life-saving and long-vetted abortion medication, mifepristone. Watch Olivia talk mifepristone with attorney Meetra Mehdizadeh to dispel harmful misinformation.

“We have decades of studies showing that it is safe and effective. Millions of people have gotten medication abortions since mifepristone was FDA-approved,” Mehdizadeh said. “But right now, anti-abortion extremists are trying to get additional, unnecessary restrictions added to mifepristone to make it more difficult to access.”
Midwifery advocacy
Here Olivia talks with litigator Hillary Schneller about the Center’s work fighting restrictive midwifery laws that contribute to the U.S. maternal mortality rate—the highest maternal mortality rate of any comparably wealthy nation.
“Black women die at three times the rate of white women, and none of this is inevitable,” Schneller said. “So much of it is preventable, and we know that midwives are a big part of the solution. Unfortunately, many states like Georgia restrict them and prohibit them outright from practicing and supporting families.”

In June, Rodrigo announced her inaugural Daisy Chain Fields Festival—a music festival featuring exclusively female acts, including Chappell Roan, Doechii, Mitski, and more—to raise money for charities that champion women and girls. For the festival, Rodrigo partnered with the Center and other nonprofits, including the Black Mamas Matter Alliance, the Johns Hopkins Center for Indigenous Health, and the National Women’s Law Center. And once again, my favorite song is when artists advocate for women, girls, and abortion care. Thx, Olivia!
