Taylor Swift Motivates Travis Kelce to Get His Ass Up & Work
I imagine the biggest question of 2026, for some people, has been whether Travis Kelce, of Taylor Swift fame, might retire from the Kansas City Chiefs following his 13th season. He’s already marrying rich and has a successful podcast—what more could one need, really?

But on Monday, he confirmed that he’d be returning for another season of being a throw-ball-tackle-guy. As he should! Does he think he can just sit on his podcast couch while his soon-to-be wife brings home the bacon? Hell no. On the Pat McAfee show, he revealed that his decision was indeed inspired by his fiancée’s insane work ethic. Again, as it should be.

“It’s amazing to see her keep going to the table, keep finding new things to write about, keep finding new melodies and, on top of that, still seeing her have that love and joy in what she does,” Kelce said. If Swift can do that, then certainly he can find new things to…tackle?… for one more season. Inspiring!

“Of course that’s motivating. That’s motivating for anybody to see, let alone my fiancée, knowing that I’m going through something where I’m trying to figure out exactly what the future holds for me,” he continued. “Something like that definitely motivates me to say, ‘You know what, I’m not done, either.’ I’ve still got some ideas in the back of my mind and still got some juice left to play this game.” Ideas for what, exactly? Is there any new frontier left in this line of work? Is he going to invent a new way to get concussed?

It’s sweet to see a man so inspired by his partner’s work ethic, but surely Swift, as one of the most successful women in the world, did not want her soon-to-be husband to be just a podcaster. If he retired now, who would be the football coach in her English teacher fantasy? This is her “You Belong With Me”/dating-the-football-jock daydream era she’s been yearning for since she was a teen. I can’t imagine she was going to let Kelce retire that easily.

Plus, if we don’t get another year’s worth of Taylor pics from the box seats wearing a new form of Chiefswear, then what the hell are we going to do with our lives?

Props to Kelce for proving he’s willing to work on this upcoming partnership—but if he were a truly good son, he would help his poor mother complete her groundbreaking, historic home renovation. Just a thought.
