I don’t know if it’s because I’m a mom now or because they remind me of how much I loved Joey McIntyre—either way, both reasons are essentially the same as they are merely indications of my age (mid-early-thirties)—but I really like One Direction’s new video for “Kiss You.” Poking fun at the artifice of the contrived image for maximum marketability that boy bands and teen idols throughout history have been plagued by, they show off their youthful playfulness in various scenarios, while pulling the camera back to reveal that it’s all just a green screen and not real. It’s cute and fun and there are hairless, concave chests that are completely sexually non-threatening and will make you feel like a pervy, creepy, old lady for liking.
