Valentino: What If Wednesday Addams Was a Sister Wife?

Latest

The fall/winter collection for Valentino — designed by Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaulo Piccioli — was presented yesterday during Paris Fashion Week, and it was a wee bit buttoned-up. Sure, there were some girlish jumpers and with crisp white collars and luxurious ermine coats. But what about the long dresses with long sleeves? What about the floral prints? Gothic Lolita-meets-Little House on the Prairie? Wednesday Addams goes FDLS? Was it pretty? Sure. Was it the smashingly sexy red carpet chic we associate with Valentino? No. Some of it was reminiscent of the Jessica McClintock/prairie styles of the late ’70s and early ’80s. (Virgin Suicides, anyone?)

The LA Times reports:

The look: Elegant simplicity with rich materials from the very first looks, charming A-line black dresses with white lace cuffs and collars. Tough and sweet.
The inspiration: The Flemish Masters and Calvinist simplicity, according to the collection notes.

Take a look and judge for yourself.
