The New York Times is reporting that President Obama is set to formally announce Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius as his latest nominee for the position of Secretary of Health and Human Services on Monday.
“A two-term state insurance commissioner and two-term Democratic governor in a reliably Republican state,” the Times notes, “Ms. Sebelius has a reputation of reaching across the aisle.” Sebelius is the second nominee for the position; Senator Tom Daschle, Obama’s original pick, withdrew his nomination due to questions regarding his failure to pay taxes.
