Women’s Stories Matter—But Apparently So Does Using AI to Cut Costs!
“It’s so, so important that women are involved in AI because it will be the future of filmmaking,” Reese Witherspoon told Glamour. Great!

There’s something concerning happening in Hollywood… celebrities are willingly handing out testimonials about how much they love AI. Kim Kardashian posted her ChatGPT business convos; Allison Williams won’t stop raving about AI; Grimes even previously offered to split royalties with fans who made songs using AI versions of her voice. And now, Reese Witherspoon.
While promoting the 4th season of The Morning Show, Reese told Glamour how she feels about the increasingly controversial topic, and…it wasn’t great!
“It’s so, so important that women are involved in AI because it will be the future of filmmaking,” adding that she’s “looking forward to how media is evolving and how I can help be part of bringing women along in those emerging industries. And now we’re doing it with AI.”
Listen, I think we can all agree that most things would be better if more women were involved. But being obsessed with AI in this ~girlboss~ way is the exact type of dystopian corporate scheme that Jack Donaghy probably would have thought up on 30 Rock to fire half the writers’ room.
It sucks to hear Williams talk about how she loves ChatGPT, but it really sucks to hear Witherspoon—who founded Hello Sunshine, the production company behind “women-centered” stories (Big Little Lies, Gone Girl, Wild)—suggest that AI should be integrated into storytelling. Not to mention that practically every beach read she touches gets a film adaptation and a spot on the bestseller list.
