Democratic candidate for New York state attorney general, Zephyr Teachout, just released a campaign ad featuring her ultrasound. This may be the first use of an ultrasound in a political ad that isn’t about stripping people of their basic reproductive rights.
“What does his or her future look like?” Teachout asks, looking at the camera while on the exam table. “Do we save our democracy? Do we flip congress? Does Robert Mueller indict Trump? I don’t want to wait and see.”Teachout, who is currently pregnant with her first child, has been making an effort to normalize pregnancy on the campaign trail.
“Being pregnant does not change the fact that I wrote a book on corruption, or that I sued Donald Trump,” Teachout told Time in August. “Being pregnant doesn’t change the fact that I’ve been working on these issues for over 15 years. It doesn’t change the fact that I have a unique expertise in [government and business corruption].”
Baby Teachout is due in October.
