A Week in the Life of the Most Unpopular Vice President in History

A week in the life of JD Vance is one of continuous humiliation and botched jobs. In his first year as VP, Vance visited Greenland despite not being invited, failed to invigorate Germany’s far-right neo-nazi AfD party, dropped farther and farther down on Trump’s list of replacements, and, of course, appeared on podcasts.

But last week was one of the most pathetic weeks for the vice president, if you can even imagine. First, after being sent to Hungary to campaign for the fascist prime minister Victor Orban, Vance attempted to call Trump on speaker phone at a rally and was sent to voicemail because the president was dealing with more pressing matters (trying to destroy an entire civilization).

“This is going to be embarrassing if he doesn’t pick up,” Vance said. Reader, it was. Oh, and what do you know! Orban lost the election.

The bad luck streak continued into the weekend, as Vance was sent to negotiate with Iran while Trump flirted with UFC fighters. After returning from his 21-hour negotiation session over Iran’s nuclear program, Vance announced they came up short.

“We’ve made very clear what our red lines are,” he told reporters on Saturday, “They have chosen not to accept our terms.” Strike 2. Surely it can’t get any worse!

Oh, but it did. According to a CNN poll released last week, Vance’s current net approval rating is -18 points, a 21-point drop since January 2025.

“This might be part of a longer trend of vice presidents becoming unpopular, but we can say JD Vance is historically the least popular vice president at this point in their vice presidencies,” CNN analyst Harry Enten said.

And not to mention, Vance is attempting to market a book about his journey to Catholicism, while the president is publicly feuding with the Pope and posting AI slop of himself as Jesus. Pope Leo also declined Vance’s in-person invitation to the White House’s 250th celebration this July, and a deep dive into Leo’s pre-papacy Twitter account revealed years of criticism of both Trump and Vance, including a shared link to an op-ed titled, “JD Vance is wrong, Jesus doesn’t ask us to rank our love for others.” Perhaps Leo is still mad at Vance for killing Pope Francis. Not really, but the former pope did die just hours after Vance visited him last year.

So, to recap: last week alone, he campaigned for Orban, and Orban lost; he tried to make nice with Iran to no avail. And now, he is polling worse than any other vice president in history. It would seem that wherever the VP goes, failure follows. So he’s either the unluckiest guy on the planet, or he was sent from the future to destroy MAGA from the inside.

Vance is set to attend Turning Point’s tour at the University of Georgia this week, and based on this track record, we must protect UGA at all costs.
