Danielle Staub Quits Stripping, Seeks Professional Help
LatestOne day after photos of Danielle Staub working as a stripper at Scores hit the internet, the former Real Housewives of New Jersey star says she has backed out of her three-year deal with the gentlemen’s club and is seeking treatment for psychological problems stemming from childhood sexual abuse—from Dr. Drew. Staub is currently filming a reality show for VH1—with the likes of Heidi Montag and Jake Pavelka—called Famous Food, leading some to believe that, with her newly confessed “love addiction,” she’s angling for a spot on the channel’s Celebrity Rehab.
“My low self-esteem derived from childhood sexual abuse has messed with my mind and self-worth, and over the years I thought about getting help but pushed it deep into the depths of denial,” Staub told People. “For years I have had the suicide hotline on my cell phone and would like nothing more than to free myself from this constant pressure.”
She went on to say that she can no long put these problems on the back burner, “seeing how I have hurt myself and my family this time.” (Because the sex tape was within those acceptable limits?) Staub says she was “coaxed” into her Scores deal by her past handlers, but adds, “I have to own my mistakes and can’t blame others.”
