Emilio Estevez Says He Feels Like Shooting Charlie Sheen

No matter what your feelings are on Charlie Sheen, it isn’t hard to empathize with his family. Soon after Charlie’s hospitalization for a “hernia,” Martin Sheen was rumored to be pushing him to go to actual rehab. Instead, Charlie declared he’d cured his addiction with his mind, and went on to say Alcoholics Anonymous is “brainwashing his family,” and that addicts should, “Step up and change it, change it right now. Look your father in the eye and say, ‘You’re wrong, I’m different I’m better, watch me, watch me bury you.”

On top of the usual struggles of addicts’ families, which are well-documented on shows like Intervention and Celebrity Rehab, the Estevez/Sheen family has to face questions from the press. While speaking to The Sun, Emilio Estevez tried to to toe the line between supporting his brother and condemning his behavior. He said:

There’s that thing in The Godfather: Part II of ‘I love you, Fredo, you’re my brother, but don’t ever take sides with anyone against the family’, then Michael Corleone has to have Fredo ‘taken out’ on the boat … There are times, like these, when I want to take Charlie out for a boat ride … Charlie should know that he might have a boat ride in the future. Someone’s got to be Michael Corleone.

Emilio added that he’s always tried to set a good example for his younger brother, “But, really, I was a pretty poor one. I was a bad boy. I was drinking and I lost my virginity [at 14].” He continued: “There’s always hope, and there are so many examples of people pulling themselves out of the shit and having a rebirth … So you just pray for him and hope he has that moment of clarity.”

It’s understandable that Emilio would feel guilty about what his brother’s going through, but the truth is having a “bad boy” for an older brother isn’t what made Charlie the man he is today. It probably would’ve been smarter for Emilio to keep quiet, since saying he wants to kill Charlie only contributes to the media circus. However, Charlie’s story has been so sensationalized (mainly by Charlie himself) that nothing Emilio says is going to make it worse — and sadly, it seems Emilio feels there’s nothing else he can do to make things better.
