FBI: San Bernardino Mass Shooting Now Being Investigated as an 'Act of Terror'

Latest

In a press conference Friday afternoon, the FBI announced that the mass shooting perpetrated in San Bernardino by a married couple, Tashfeen Malik and Syez Rizwan Farook, is now being investigated as a terrorist attack.

David Bowdich, assistant director of the FBI, told assembled reporters, “As of today… we are now investigating these horrific acts as an act of terrorism.” He suggested that the agencies investigating the attack are looking at travel that Syed Rizwan Farook made overseas, but refused to speculate about who may have “directed” the attack. The FBI also found “crushed” cell phones by the suspects’ home, and said they will try to recover data on them.

Bowdich asked for the public’s help, but added, probably futilely, “Please do not send us things that are obviously not pertinent to this matter.”
