Jessica Simpson "Responds" To John Mayer
LatestQuestion: How can we possibly drag out the John Mayer Playboy controversy? E! Online has the answer: Make something up.
Jessica Simpson hasn’t really said anything yet about John Mayer’s Playboy interview or his comments about her prowess in the sack (“That girl, for me, is a drug… Sexually it was crazy. That’s all I’ll say. It was like napalm, sexual napalm“) but she has said something about her hair. In an interview published in the February issue of Allure, Simpson responds to a question about her brief stint as a brunette by saying this:
He didn’t make me go brunette! John doesn’t get credit for making me brunette. He’d like to think so, but he doesn’t deserve the credit.
Could it be that she’s trying to get back at John Mayer though insulting his role in her hair color choice? Or is she just annoyed at a stupid question? We’re guessing the latter, especially because the interview was conducted before Mayer’s shit hit the fan. But that is just a pesky fact, one easily ignored. E! admits that it’s a “throwaway line” but spins it:
Hmmm. So she’s the best thing in bed since, um, spontaneous combustion, but Mayer doesn’t even get credit for a change in hair color?
That’s gotta hurt.
The bottom of the article also features a link to other stories about celebrities “giving John Mayer a cold shoulder.” Last week TMZ pulled a similar stunt and described Simpson “laughing off” Mayer’s comments, when in reality she simply responded to the paparazzi’s question with “no comment.” Tabloids manufacture drama all the time, but it is amusing to see the discrepancy between Simpson’s actual quotes and their creative interpretation. She goes on to tell Allure that “None of my breakups, none of it’s been bitter,” and she still cheers for her ex Tony Romo. How disappointingly drama-free.
