Miss Colombia on Steve Harvey's Fuck-Up: 'Everything Happens For a Reason'
Latest“I’m happy for all of what I did, for becoming this dream. I’m so happy, thank you for voting for me!” Arévalo said from a giant crowd of supporters, smiling through the tears.
Miss Philippines Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach, for her part, seemed completely shellshocked in this backstage interview with Entertainment Tonight:
When asked if she got a chance to speak with the runner-up, Wurtzbach responded, “No, because she was crying, and there was a crowd around her, the girls, who were comforting her, I was going to go to her, but then I decided it was maybe bad timing to do it now…”Probably, yeah.
“It’s a very non-traditional crowning moment, isn’t it? It’s very 2015,” she said in a different, slightly less panicked video posted to the Miss Universe Twitter account (which also posted an apology for the mix-up here, and some deeply awkward photos):
Host Steve Harvey, who is also the author of Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man, tweeted (and deleted) an apology last night in which he misspelled the names of both countries; it was retweeted over 30,000 times.
Looks like everyone’s moved on.
