Protesters Want 'World's Saddest Polar Bear' Moved From Argentina Zoo
LatestArturo, the only remaining polar bear in the Mendoza Zoo outside of Buenos Aires, has been dubbed the “world’s saddest polar bear” by animal rights activists, and for good reason. (If there is a sadder polar bear out there, then I’m pretty sure that we have no way of being sure that our earth isn’t a terrible hellscape in which we are demons tasked with bringing misery to large and noble creatures.)
According to the Independent, Arturo is thought to be depressed following the death of his long-term companion two years ago; video footage shows him traipsing despondently around a small enclosure and gnashing his teeth, which experts say is “abnormal” behavior. The experts also note that polar bears are, uh, you know, built for the cold, and temperatures in the Mendoza Zoo can reach up to 104 degrees Fahrenheit. Which is really awful and dangerous.
