The suspect was volunteering at a Kenyan children’s home when he allegedly raped and molested a number of young children.
According to court records, 19-year-old Matthew Durham confessed to raping several young girls, forcing some boys to perform oral sex on him and even making other kids watch.
Nineteen year-old Matthew Durham volunteered at the orphanage in Nairobi several times over the last two years with an organization called Upendo, which “assists neglected Kenyan kids by providing food, housing, clothes and religion.” Durham requested to stay at the orphanage with the children in a “overflow bunk” instead of offsite accommodations.
“The victims are believed to be both boys and girls between the ages of four and nine, at least one of whom is HIV positive.”
Prosecutors say while the alleged sex crimes were committed overseas, Durham can be held accountable for the crimes in Oklahoma.
Durham is being held without bond.
I mean, HOLY FUCKING SHIT guys. At this moment, I can’t even call to mind something more horrendous than this — just depraved. In general, I’m in favor of second chances and a prison system that focuses on rehabilitation but if he’s guilty, throw this fucker in jail and lose the key. Sorry, not sorry.
Steven Jones, Durham’s lawyer, denounced the affidavit detailing Durham’s crimes with a whole bunch of racist flapdoodle.
“The events that occurred in Kenya the last maybe five six days that Matt was there frankly reveal some sort of pseudo-tribal psychological voodoo practiced on him, including confiscating his passport, false imprisonment, keeping food from him one day, delay in allowing him to depart from the country, misleading his parents. I don’t think Hollywood could make up what happened at this so-called orphanage.
I understand that his job his to defend his client, but I don’t think a non-sociopath could make up a statement like that.
Matthew Durham is being held without bail and faces a possibility of life in prison.
