If you were planning to compose your novel on a typewriter to give it that antediluvian panache, you may have missed your chance. Godrej and Boyce, the last company still manufacturing typewriters, has shut down its plant in Mumbai. There are still about 200 machines left, but you’ll need to be able to type in Arabic.
