Matthew McConaughey can’t stop, won’t stop saying “alright alright alright,” a line he originally improvised in Dazed and Confused but has since adopted as his own personal catchphrase. But where’d it come from? Turns out he was inspired by Jim Morrison’s chatter on a Doors live album. Too, too perfect.
McConaughey tells the story in the clip above (via UpRoxx). It’s from 2011, but the CBC’s George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight put it on YouTube after the actor’s Oscar win.
With every word that comes out of his mouth, Matthew McConaughey reminds me more and more of one of those semi-itinerate preachers who talks a lot about a muscular, flesh-and-blood Jesus and baptizes people in creeks. Either that, or someone’s eccentric Uncle Jerry.
