McDonald's is Test-Marketing Guacamole Burgers

In Depth

McDonald’s is now test-marketing various items featuring guacamole in select US markets. Oh, goodie.

McDonald’s is primarily marketing three sandwiches: the guacamole burger, the guacamole grilled chicken sandwich, and the guacamole crispy chicken sandwich. All of them come topped with guacamole, pico de gallo, white cheddar cheese, lettuce, and whatever the hell that sauce on the bottom is (the article doesn’t say). Also, the burgers are apparently retailing at $4.79, ’cause, y’know, that’s totally a market-sustainable price point.

I’m going to go on record and predict this will not end well, especially considering the last chain to try to introduce avocado into its menu. I mean, sure, maybe the guacamole quality will be decent at certain McDonald’s (and I’m sure the quality will in NO way correlate to the level of money/whiteness in surrounding area, because that NEVER happens), but there are going to be a whole lot of locations where a guacamole burger is basically a beef patty covered in swampy peat moss. Less than ideal, I tell you.

Further, there’s always been something hilarious about watching McDonald’s try to release “healthy” items — it’s like watching a dog walk on its hind legs, or watching a Republican Senator try to claim he’s “pro-woman.” I’m still laughing about those McSalad Shakers.
