Nigella Allegedly Turns to Oprah for Requisite Image-Rehab Interview
LatestThe trial of Nigella Lawson and Charles Saatchi versus their assistants is the stuff that people who love watching Court TV live for, which is why the Daily Mirror‘s live updates on the court case are so enrapturing. The latest update asserts old rumors that Lawson will be rehabbing her image by sitting in a beige chair across from Oprah.
On Tuesday afternoon, the defense attorney Karina Arden mentioned that Oprah will air an interview with Lawson in January, in a line of questioning that the judge quickly shot down:
Domestic Goddess Nigella is planning to rebuild her reputation in the US after the drug allegations by giving an exclusive interview to Oprah, it has been claimed.
Ms Arden asked Ms Wasserman: “You know, don’t you, that Miss Lawson has signed an exclusive agreement with Oprah Winfrey in January.”
The PA denied this, replying: “That is not correct.”
Before the point could be expanded Judge Johnson shut down Ms Arden saying she should have asked the celebrity this.
“I am not allowing this questioning,” he said.
As far as I can tell, Oprah and Nigella and have never sat down together for an interview that’ll be as serious as this one is bound to be. Rumors of the Lawson/Oprah interview started back in July, after Oprah’s Next Chapter and OWN itself had become the new hot destination for celebrities looking to gain back control of their narratives. That list most famously includes Lindsay Lohan, whose upcoming show on the network will likely become Oprah’s most important contribution to society.
