Prude Instagram Censors Ban #Curvy From Search Results

Latest

The boring fuddy-duddies over at Instagram are censoring users again by banning the hashtag #curvy in search results.

The company claims this restriction is a result of seeing way too many Instagram users attach the hashtag to nude photo posts, according to BuzzFeed:

A spokesperson from Instagram said the hashtag #curvy is not searchable because, according to the company, it was being used to share images and videos that violated Instagram’s community guidelines around nudity.

So don’t bother posting that curvy hourglass photo, it’s too sexy for IG 😉

Instagram’s inconsistent and often unnecessary censorship of boobs, butts and everything in between continues to be dumbfounding. As Time notes:

This adds to Instagram’s long history of banning users and terms for, what many views as, arbitrary reasons. Inconsistencies with the site’s censorship was highlighted by artist Sam Roddick, who was banned from the site for her photo of a cornice shaped like a vagina.

Meanwhile other hashtag terms like #penis and #fatso continue to thrive.
