The Fashionable Hits & Misses At The Cannes Film Festival

BeautyStyle

The 64th Annual Cannes Film Festival kicked off this week with lots of premieres and photo ops for which celebs dressed up. From Angelina’s casual khaki to typical Tilda, we have the best and worst of the offerings.

Hofit Golan is an Israeli socialite and, evidently, something of a Jovani prom dress fan.

Rachel McAdams didn’t play it safe this week, and her gambles paid off, pairing linen, high-waisted pants with a blinged-out top at the Sleeping Beauty premiere.

For the premiere of her own film—Woody Allen’s Midnight in Paris—she rocked a nude cape.

Ménage à trois of glamor: Karolina Kurkova, Salma Hayek, and Uma Thurman. The moral of this story is that it’s really hard to look bad when you’re so beautiful.

To that extent, I thought that it was really hard to fuck up a tux when they’re so standard, as evidenced by impeccably-dressed Djimon Hounsou and Jude Law. But then I saw Frenchie Pierre-Francois Martin-Laval and I changed my mind.

Hats off to John C. Reilly who wins most fashionable man, hands down.

Jane Fonda is 73 fucking years old and looks like this.

Faye Dunaway, 70, is a little more relatable because I could get on board with a muumuu—casual or fancy—at any age.

Here’s the thing about Tilda Swinton: I feel like she goes out of her way to wear evening gowns that drape awkwardly. It’s like she’s trying too hard to look like she’s not trying at all. Sometimes it works. Not so much here. However, I am very interested in her handbag, since it looks like a book.

That being said about Tilda, I found her day look lovely and was particularly fond of her basket-woven shoes.

Did Angelina Jolie and Famke Janssen trade fashion souls? You’d think that it would be Angie who would opt to go as Morticia Sur La Plage. Meanwhile, Dustin Hoffman: Shoes.

Can we talk trash for a minute? Literally? Alice Englert looked like she was Glad bags.

Alexa Chung looked innocent, Diane Kruger looked like a goddess, and Bryce Dallas Howard looked pregnant, which I just assumed was a known fact, but apparently it’s up for debate. So maybe she’s not. I’ll be fair and say that she merely wore a dress that would work well on a pregnant body.

This dress is totally worth the whatever soda Amie Mullins most likely knocked over when she took her seat in the theater.

I’ve never heard of Fan Bingbing before, but she was easily the coolest person on the red carpet with her rockabilly-gala look.
