True story: When I was a youngster I had a pen pal and he was really really really into Nina Hagen. Many of his letters to me included all kinds of details about the German singer. For instance! When she was 32, she married a 17-year-old-punk nicknamed Iroquois. Hence the song “Punk Wedding”. Nina Hagen turns 56 today, and I, for one, plan to use her birthday as an excuse to stock up on eyeliner.
