Van Der Sloot Formally Charged With Murder

Peruvian authorities formally charged Joran Van Der Sloot today with the murder of Stephany Flores, after her family voiced concerns that he’d be freed if they delayed any longer. Peruvian law dictates that suspects can only be held for 18 months without a charge, and Van Der Sloot’s time would have been up in December.
