Here’s a fun story about an entitled dude: In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Amy Schumer said that a critic who had written about her unfortunate looks in review of her movie Trainwreck, later asked her out. Schumer said:
“With Trainwreck coming out, I was like, everyone’s going to say, ‘She’s not pretty enough to be in this movie.’ And then only one dude wrote that, and people really attacked him, and then he redacted that and wanted to date me.”
Though Schumer declined to identify the critic, E! Online suggests that it might be Jeffrey Wells from the website Hollywood Elsewhere. In a review of Trainwreck, Wells wrote:
“She’s obviously sharp and clever and funny as far as the woe-is-me, self-deprecating thing goes, but there’s no way she’d be an object of heated romantic interest in the real world. And yet that’s the apparent premise of Apatow’s film. Schumer’s wide facial features reminded me of a blonde Lou Costello around the time of Buck Privates, or Jennifer Aniston’s somewhat heavier, not-as-lucky sister who watches a lot of TV.”
Wells later (sort of) apologized, noting that he was just a good old-fashioned man with sexual appetites so strong, they control his writing. In his apology, Wells wrote that Schumer was “not grade-A or even B-plus material, certainly by my standards as well as those of any moderately attractive, fair-minded youngish heterosexual dude who’s feeling hormonal or what-have-you.”
In an interview with HuffPost Live, Salt-N-Pepa said that there aren’t enough women in the rap industry. While the pair acknowledged the fame of Nicki Minaj, “Salt” (Cheryl James) said that Minaj alone wasn’t enough: “When we coming up, we had like [Queen] Latifah, Lauryn Hill, Lil’ Kim, Foxy Brown . . . So the baton has been dropped.” “Pepa” (Sandra Denton) added, “We need more. It’s baffling to this day. I am a fan, it’s always been and is a male dominated field. . . I’m like come on girl, let’s do this!”
Yolanda Foster told Bravo that she’s recovered from her Lyme disease and will be appearing on the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills reunion. A source told Radar that Foster is feeling so much better that she’s won’t allow herself to be bullied!
“[…] with the Lyme disease controversy being Yolanda’s storyline this year, she is ready to fight back against accusations she has been faking it. Yolanda won’t allow the other ladies to bully her about the hell she has been through. She’s feeling much stronger than she has in months, and the ladies are going to be in for a big surprise when Yolanda lights into them.”
