Bachmann Refuses To Discuss That Thing She's Always Talking About

Latest

Michele Bachmann explained yesterday that it’s really none of our business if her family is running Christian counseling clinics that may or may not be using taxpayer fund to “cure” people of their gayness. And it’s pretty sexist of you to ask!

You see, she’s the one running for office, not her husband or the business she talks about constantly on the campaign trail.

During a luncheon at the National Press Club, some poor soul attempted to get an honest answer out of Bachmann about her husband Marcus Bachmann’s use of BS “reparative therapy” on homosexual patients. Her response:

I’m running for the presidency of the United States. My husband is not running for the presidency, neither are my children, neither is our business, neither is our foster children and I’m more than happy to stand for questions on running for the presidency of the United States.

As The American Prospect points out, Bachmann likes to mention that she’s a “business owner” or “small businessperson” whenever she’s not reminding us that she raised 276 children. But apparently we’re not supposed to ask about what her work entails. It’s just common courtesy.

Buy the media is likely to unfairly go after Bachmann about the things she believes and how she makes her living anyway. When challenged on her non-response, she said:

“I am more than happy to stand for questions on running for the presidency of the United States. I have no doubt that every jot and tittle of my life will be fully looked at and inspected prior to November of 2012.”

So we’ll be able to inspect her life someday, just not today.

Also off limits for now: Questions pertaining to her current job. The Hill reports that when asked if she’d support John Boehner remaining Speaker of the House if his plan to raise the debt limit fails, she said, “I am running for president of the United States. I am not running for Speaker of the House.” Why is this so hard for journalists to understand? She’ll answer any question, just so long as it’s, “Why would you be such an awesome president?”
