Matt Damon Is Disappointed With Obama: "I No Longer Hope For Audacity"

Latest

Despite Piers Morgan framing most of his questions as references to The Adjustment Bureau, Damon managed to seriously discuss some non-film related topics on his CNN show tonight. When the conversation turned to politics, Damon, who was one of President Obama’s biggest celebrity supporters during the election, said he thinks he “misinterpreted his mandate.”

He attacked Obama for failing to mention poverty in the State of the Union, the lack of reform on Wall Street, and education policy. When asked about Afghanistan later in the interview, he added, “I don’t think the mission there has been very well articulated. And I think it would help to kind of reframe the way we’re thinking about being there and why we’re there.” While Damon praised the President for being a “deep thinker,” he said that he “wanted more” and believes he squandered his opportunity to bring about real change.
