Miss Honduras World and Her Sister Reported Missing

A 2014 Miss World contestant has been reported missing days before the start of the pageant.

Nineteen-year-old María José Alvarado Muñoz, the current Miss Honduras World, and her sister Sofia Trinidad have been missing since last week. According to Fox News Latina, the two sisters went missing after a birthday party they attended in Santa Bárbara, Honduras on Thursday. Police in Honduras said family members reported their disappearance to authorities on Saturday. Via CNN:

Eduardo Zablah, director of the pageant in Honduras, told CNN affiliate Televicentro that the sisters were last seen getting into a vehicle after attending a party last week.
Contestants from more than 120 countries are scheduled to start arriving in London this week for early rounds of the Miss World pageant. They’ll face off in a final round on December 14.

According to her profile on the Miss World pageant site, Alvarado “has aspirations of a career in government, specifically as a diplomat for her country. In her spare time, she enjoys playing sports, including volleyball and football.”

She won the title of Miss Honduras in April of this year.
