Palin Puts Bus Tour On Hiatus, Criticizes Fox News

Latest

Earlier today, it was reported that Sarah Palin had canceled her highly publicized yet top-secret bus tour, calling off plans to travel through the Midwest and Southeast. Tragically, this means many Americans won’t get a chance to see a former vice presidential candidate barrel into town and dine with the most ridiculous resident at a mediocre pizza joint. Surely there’s already a Palin quitting joke forming in your head, but stop right there. Turns out this is just another case of the lamestream media getting it wrong! (When Palin refuses to answer “gotcha” questions like “where are we going?”)

Today Real Clear Politics reported that the Palin clan was back in Alaska, which led many news outlets to conclude that her tour was over, and the Constitution-strewn bus would be put out to pasture in the Colonial Williamsburg parking lot.

Later in the day she responded to the rumors of her bus tour’s demise, Tweeting, “I did? Hmm, glad I have media to let me know my plans.” She added “Palin Ends Bus Tour” with a link to a Fox News article and wrote, “They never cease to amaze me.” It’s unclear if the Fox News contributor was referring to herself, or just all of her colleagues at the network, but either way this marks the first time we agree on something!

Tonight, she elaborated in a Facebook post titled, “*Sigh* Reports of Tour Demise Are Greatly Exaggerated”:

Imagine our surprise when reading media reports today that the “One Nation Tour” has been cancelled. Why didn’t anyone tell me? Oh, wait, that’s because it hasn’t been cancelled. (Good ol’ media… you never cease to amaze!)
As I said myself at the end of the east coast leg of the tour, the summer is long, and I’m looking forward to hitting the open road again. The coming weeks are tight because civic duty calls (like most everyone else, even former governors get called up for jury duty) and I look forward to doing my part just like every other Alaskan.
I wouldn’t think it to be such a slow news day that, what with numerous wars and serious economic woes concerning Americans, a bus is driving news stories today. The next leg of the tour continues when the time comes. In the meantime, no one should jump to conclusions – certainly not the media with their long track record of getting things wrong or just making things up.

Gosh, Sarah Palin is so beleaguered. Why does the press keep focusing on her tour? It’s almost like she’s a cartoonish figure who brings guaranteed ratings traveling about the nation in an easily-idenifiable vehicle. Naturally, our thoughts are with the defendant who winds up with Palin on their jury. By giving America a few weeks of lighter Palin coverage they’re truly performing a civic duty.
