Pumpkins Make Fall Bearable
LatestIt’s tradition at the Bronx Zoo to give the resident bears pumpkins during the fall, and boy do these bears enjoy the shit out of these pumpkins.
At the risk of sounding like Dwight Schrute, let me tell you a little anecdote about bears. When I was in middle school, my parents took my siblings and I on vacation to Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming. Shortly after arriving, we stopped at a gift shop, where morbid curiosity prompted me to purchase a book that I thought would inject a much-needed sense of adventure into the trip. It was called “Bear Attacks: Their Causes and Avoidance,” and it was filled with very graphic accounts of people who had been mauled by bears. Some of those attacks occurred right there in Yellowstone National Park! I spent the entire trip terrified that I’d have my menarche and lure an angry bear into my cabin, where it would drag me into the woods and feast upon my soft tissues. Anyway, don’t read Bear Attacks: Their Causes and Avoidance if you’re going to go camping or if you want to not be afraid of bears for a few years.
So enjoy this video, but remember that it’s all cuteness and sweetness and huggability until you realize that those bears would do that exact thing with just as much glee to your detached head if given the chance.
