The Notorious R.B.G. has no plans to retire anytime soon, according to a series of remarks the Supreme Court justice made in her chambers on Friday (presumably after some pre-weekend margaritas).
Ginsburg reassured nail-biters worried that a Republican might have a chance to appoint her successor that the identity of a future president doesn’t at all factor into her retirement plans, which she apparently isn’t making even in spite of her swan-songy New Yorker profile back in March. The 80-year-old justice, appointed in 1993 by Bill Clinton, said she “loves” her job, although age has kept her from engaging in some of her favorite extracurricular activities:
I don’t water-ski anymore. I haven’t gone horseback riding in four years. I haven’t ruled that out entirely. But water-skiing, those days are over.
Water-skiing Ruth Bader Ginsburg really should be a meme.
