Sea Lions Are Disco Queens, Can Totally Keep a Beat

Scientists at UC Santa Cruz taught one of their resident sea lions (please note: they have resident sea lions those lucky bastards!) to keep the beat to music. Not only is it fun to jam along with Ronan, it’s a pretty important finding because it challenges earlier evidence that only humans and parrots can get down with a funky beat. Plus, it’s really adorable to watch.

Ronan, when your moves get a little smoother, bark at me so we can hit the club. There has to be an anti seal clubbing PETA ad in there somewhere… “Sea Lions Are for Hitting the Club With, Not for Hitting With Clubs”?? Ugh, that doesn’t work because seals v. sea lions, and also it’s terrible, but maybe someone out there has a better idea??
