One of my favorite things about Olympic figure skating is the extreme intensity that goes into the choreography—including the passionate expressions the skaters make while performing their routines. A few examples, comin’ right up:
There is no one better at SkateFace than newly-crowned Olympic villain Evgeni Plushenko, who knows how to get the crowd riled up with his sassy expressions.
Italy’s Anna Cappellini’s expression during today’s ice dancing competition: pure joy.
Oh, snap! Russia’s Oksana Domnina and Maxim Shabalin just challenged you to a dance off, y’all!
And France’s Isabelle Delobel and Olivier Schoenfelder know how to strike a pose.
Sometimes the ice dancing is so intense that you feel like you’re kind of spying on a super private moment, no? It’s a bit like Dirty Dancing, only they’re on blades. As someone who can barely dance in shoes (or uh, in general), I’m super impressed by all of this.
Every picture I’ve seen of Tanith Belbin and Benjamin Agosto is super, super intense. They are in it to win it, you know?
If you didn’t know Evan Lysacek was celebrating, you might think he was a Slytherin professor yelling at Draco Malfoy for failing to turn his homework in on time.
There is something sort of beautiful about this picture of Johnny Weir. You can really see the concentration in his eyes. (Also? He was robbed. Robbed!)

I know about 17 people who fell in love with Stephane Lambiel after his skate the other night, so romantic shot is for you, Lambiel lovers.
But really, nobody beats Plushenko when it comes to on-ice sassiness. He may not have won the gold medal this time around, but he’s still the all time champ when it comes to SkateFace.
