Swine Flu Confirmed In New York City

Mayor Michael Bloomberg has confirmed that 8 students who fell ill at St. Francis Preparatory School in New York City are, indeed, infected with swine flu, a virus that has already killed over 60 people.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have confirmed the presence of swine flu at the school; reportedly, several students recently traveled to Cancun to celebrate Spring Break. The school will be closed on Monday as authorities attempt to control the situation. Says New York’s Health Commissioner, Dr. Thomas Frieden, “We’re looking at this minute-to-minute, hour-to-hour, day-to-day.” [AP] [WCBS]
